Work Life Balance Consulting was not something Judy Hall set out to build. It came from what she kept seeing.

Years of bookkeeping put her inside the numbers of dozens of businesses. The same thing came up again and again: the books were clean, the statements were filed, and the owner still couldn't answer the one question that mattered — is this actually getting better? They had accurate history and no forward view. So Judy started giving them one.

What began as answering questions at the kitchen table turned into real growth work. Owners wanted to know where the money was going, which parts of the business were carrying the rest, and what to change next year. That work needed an anchor — a proper look back at the year in plain language, not accounting language. A review an owner could read and understand without a translator.

From there the shape of the service became obvious. Look honestly at the year that just ended. Find the specific places the bottom line can improve. Build a plan the owner believes in. Then meet through the year to keep it on track, because a plan nobody revisits is just a document. One year builds on the next, and the improvement compounds.

Then the same need surfaced somewhere else entirely. Volunteer fire departments, community organizations, recreation commissions, and rural service groups were run by volunteers doing their best with the time they had — no finance staff, boards asking fair questions, and no one to translate. Judy adapted the review for them, grounding it in ASNPO reporting standards, and The Balanced Year-End Review became a practical, non-assurance review that tells a board exactly where it stands and what to bring to its accountant or membership.
